International Conference of the Protestant Theological University
HUMAN FLOURISHING
Exploring Protestant Goods in Changing Contexts
June 8-10, 2009, Kampen, The Netherlands
Does Christian faith contribute to human flourishing?
The Protestant Theological University organizes its first international conference on Human Flourishing. The objective is to discover afresh the relevance of religion for today’s society.
Specialists in theology will reflect on the interaction between lived religion and societies in transformation. They will not simply interpret the goods of the Christian practice in terms of prosperity and happiness. In their lectures they will address the situation of people who live in marginal circumstances and those who face failure, sin and disappointment.
The theme of the third day of the conference is Best Practices in PhD Research, in cooperation with NOSTER (The Netherlands School for Advanced Studies in Theology and Religion). The objective is to stimulate and improve PhD research.
The university fosters the hope that constructive protestant theology will contribute to a positive role of religion in a secular and increasingly multi-religious society.
